  1. I swear my BMW F900XR requires an IT degree just to answer a phone call. 🤦‍♂️ I've paired Sena headsets, Cardo headsets, my phone… probably half the neighbourhood by now, and I still can't work out how to answer a call while riding. Whoever designed this system clearly thought making it simple was overrated. Brilliant bike, but the connectivity is enough to make you want to go back to smoke signals!

  2. Nice review. Seems like a decent machine & good looking too. Although they can keep the ERC clutch & there's a few rough edges that need addressing in a subsequent update. It's a future class leader if they sort out the niggles & keep the price down.

  3. I'm getting my first service done at the moment. Absolutely love the bike. The ERC is a complete game changer, especially on challenging off road terrain. It's very confidence inspiring.

  4. Its a shame you have to have the erc with the Trophy version. That would be a hard no from me. I got rid for my C90 forty years ago I dont need another one.

  5. For me im probably too short to ride it comfortably with only a 29 leg…my current bike has an 820mm seat with quite a narrow standover and im on the balls of my feet….be interesting to see if BMW release an R version with the 450 ish CC.

  6. BMW discontinued the sale of service manuals in 2021. The 450 can't be a real adventure bike without a service manual because stuff happens when you are far from a dealership.

  7. Very nice looking bike & BMW branding / Tech (ERC) Really great price range with upgrade options. Would enjoy seeing CF Moto's 450 Adventure comparison. Great review as always 🤘

  8. I want the trophy colour, spoked wheels, no rekluse (ERC). Maybe next year… just no use for the ERC in off-road… it’s really only good for things like motocross where you will drop the bike a lot and can’t lose time with a stall… just imagine riding up a hill, intentionally stalling so the bike won’t roll back on you and the thing rolls back on you… even parking on a non-level surface will be a pain… no leaving the bike in 1st like a park brake…
This comes from someone who owns an ASA GSA1300. It’s just the wrong use case for a rekluse.

  9. Sadly this is a minimum £1k too expensive for the category. Honda's ERC is better than BMW's, apparently, so even less reason to spend out over the odds for this.

You can also get the Suzuki SV-7GX for less than this, which highlights just how over priced this bike is in the Trophy spec..

  10. I took one for a test ride yesterday. I loved how quick and nimble it is on back roads, and great for little zoomies. The letdowns were the ERC, the windscreen and the price. (Trophy is 10500€ in Ireland.) Thanks Dan, safe rides.

  11. BMW means good dealer backup and decent spares availability. Would be expensive to drop off road I guess. BMW should have released it with 21 18 spoked wheels in top trim for that money though. What do you think compared to the CF Moto 450MT taking into consideration the price difference. Good first look and ride out on it Dan. Cheers all the best.

  12. Awesome, honest review, Dan. I was super interested in this machine, especially in that Trophy livery, but I'm not interested in that clutch. So, I'm sticking with my BMW G310GS, which is absolutely perfect for year-round commuting.
