It’s not really possible to tell except if it’s ridiculously obvious.

Just get a new chain if you need one (measure the wear with ruler/caliper or chain wear tool). If new chain skips then you need new cassette.

  2. There’s obvious wear on several gears, especially the lowest. In my experience, if you see it that obviously then it’s likely to skip on a new chain. But like someone else said, put a new chain on and see. Get a new cassette at the same time in case you need it (you probably will).

Gears 4-7 definitely have some wear on them, you can see the metal is mushrooming on the tips of the teeth.

How worn does it have to be to warrant replacement? Only way to tell is to put a new chain on the old cassette and see if it skips under load.

They’re not all worn, but some of your most used gears are very worn out. You must use that 7th cog a lot, lol.

Chains and cassettes wear together. If you have never replaced either, and your chain is worn, it’s time for a new cassette aswell

  6. There is only one definitive test: Put a new chain on it. Does the chain skip over teeth? No? Cassette is fine.

The pictured cassette has not been shifted much. However, as others have said, the wear is concentrated. Is it symptomatic? No? It’s good.
