I’ll never understand spending $200 on bearings with $30 tyres

Is it just me or does anyone else like to have little or no grip at all on the pedals and let the straps do all the grip my thinking been if you need to get out fast you can without the grippy pedals holding you back for that split second between pulling out or been laid on your side looking like a dick at the lights
