Been wanting to try that vise-mounted bender setup for a while now, that’s a slick low-cost approach. The welds look way cleaner than most of my early fluxcore attempts on thin barstock, you must have your heat dialed in pretty well.
The rack sits nice and low over the tire which is great for keeping weight centered, but you’ll want to check clearance if you ever swap to a fatter front tire down the road. The strut going up to the steerer is a smart move too, way more rigid than just bolting to the fork crown alone. Curious what the whole thing weighs, that barstock looks like it could comfortably handle a six pack and some groceries without any flex.

Nice! I’ve been thinking of making one since front racks are way more expensive and don’t come on every used bike I pick up but I don’t have any welding or tube bending stuff. My plan is to use pieces of a back rack, about a third or a quarter of an old skateboard deck and random metal brackets maybe nail plates or whatever other bits and pieces can find for cheap lol, doesn’t need to hold a lot of weight
