    It’s already an ATB!

If you HAD to do something, swap the cantilever brakes for V Brakes. Literally nothing else.

  2. Nice bike! I would zip tie a Wald basket to the front rack and call it day.

And it’s of course all subjective but imo a 2 or 3x is part of a proper ATB bike.

Those tires look like the stock Maxxis but going wider to something like 2.2 or 2.4 would be the single most noticeable change you could make for actual off road feel.

Try to move away from this idea of “upgrading“.

There’s nothing inherently “better“ about disc brakes or a 1x setup.
Sure, there might be instances where those applications make sense. But that always comes at a cost (monetarily, in terms of simplicity, ease of setup, etc.). It’s a balancing act and making the bike that fits you, your riding style, budget, and mechanical abilities.

The whole appeal of riding a 35 year old rigid-fork “Mountainbike“ with 26“ wheels is that it’s stylish, fun, accessible, versatile… not that it’s the “best“ bike around.

You‘ve got a sick bike (I‘m a big fan of Cilo Swiss roadies, not familiar with their “off-road” range, but it’s a gorgeous colour), simply enjoy!
