  1. The main downsides with the 500 pound triban are:
    * QR disc brake wheels which are essentially a dead upgrade path
    * No RD hanger meaning if you smash it hard enough the frame is a write-off
    * Headset uses some funky proprietary bearings which you will be in trouble to find in case they need a replacement

Saying it because it was my first road bike and as much as I loved it once I started doing some serious miles I realized that I have to part with it because it wasn't even worth upgrading.

  2. X-lab RS7 should be the best bike for 2k. Full carbon, carbon wheels, carbon bars, carbon seatpost,
power meter crank, shimano 105. Can't be beat.

  3. I bought a Gloria All-Road frame (which I'm pretty sure I discovered by watching one of your videos) and just moved the parts across. I'll update those separately. No regrets at all. I'm setting new PRs daily, just because the bike fits me so much better than my last one. Get the frame that fits, and the one that will last. After that, everything is negotiable.

  4. Nice to see you fiving some kudos to Boardman. Some great bikes and excellent value. Too many other channels overlook them simply because of the name and association with Halfords I think

  5. Just buy a used high end bike from 2015-2020! No matter your budget! I just bought a new canyon cfr and a used Scott from 2016! The Scott is the better bike (except if you need to go down a mountain in pouring rain).

  6. I was very lucky and got a bianchi sprint 105 di2 for around 3000 USD which to me was so nice as celeste truly is the best color

  7. Picked up a 2026 Giant Contend Ar1 with Shimano 105 and hydro brakes for $1600. I wanted a lightweight alloy frame (not fragile carbon) with generous tire clearance. Could not be happier with my choice. This thing is light, comfortable, and fast enough to handle group road rides, or switch tires for light gravel or bike-packing. Hard to find a bike as capable with this spec at this price point. I ride with people that have bikes 3-4 times the cost and something satisfying about that. My question is why do so few youtube channels mention this bike when budget options come up?

  8. Specialized and Trek are easily the worst value for money bikes, especially at the higher end, with Giant probably the best. Compare the top shelf from Giant and Specialized. The Giant TCR Advanced SL0 = AUD$12,999. The Specialized Tarmac SL9 = AUD$21,500. The TCR is every bit as good as the Tarmac, oh and I know this statement will really piss some of you off because you've bought into the marketing hype, but the fact is that the Tarmac is not a better bike than the TCR. You get nothing from buying the Tarmac except a AUD$8,499 hole in your bank account.

  9. I just bought the Giant Defy Advanced 1. Immediately swapped the wheels for Cero AR30D rims with 32mm Conti GP5000s & latex tubes and loving it! Plenty fast enough, good climber with 11-36T cassette and very comfy. 😊

  10. No love for the Orbea Orca? i got my M35 for €2,800 with full carbon frame and wheels, on 105 mechanicals, can take 38mm, possibly 40mm tyres to and looks great

  11. People commenting here saying what they paid for bikes without the currency they paid it in. We are probably from 10 different economies here people!!!
