    That small pea sized crater makes me think there was an impact.  

    OP, did you just find the bike like that, or do you have additional info about the crack?

    That’s one of the highest stress areas of the bike, but dang I have not see a carbon bike break there since the days of glued together trek road bike frames.

    The only thing besides impact I can think of is that the frame just got overloaded at some point or had some hidden defect at this position that caused it to fail within nominal loads.
    Have you cased any jumps hard lately or hit a curb at speed?

  5. I have a hard time imagining anything other than an impact causing that much damage.

    It’s one of the highest regions of stress concentration on a frame, but it’s also one of the beefiest areas with the most layers of carbon used in the layup.

    Sorry about your bike. But at the same time, congratulations on your new bike purchase.

    BB shell is twisting from harsh power strokes causing a crack to develop vertically along the BB shell & seat tube interface. You can probably get this repaired by a competent tech for around £300-£500.
