Here is a rack I made for my truck, the tailgate mat I use for mtb doesn’t work for our park bikes so I improvised this… short story, my truck uses too much fuel and on long drives I want to rack them on a fuel efficient car.. lemme see what you guys do

roof, hitch or hatch!?

fwiw, they ride better flipped 180 from the picture. just a test fit pic I took when I made it.

I put them in the car. It’s a 5 min thing to pop the wheels off and they can basically fit in any vehicle then. I don’t like them outside the vehicle for theft concerns and more so inclement weather. I ride indoors through the winter and rain days and absolutely hate water looking at my bikes 😂

2024 Camry. Class 1 hitch installed at home with the Allen 2-Bike locking rack. I don’t care about the lock but I like the big screw knob/internal wedge tightening system it uses. Third bike (if needed) in the trunk with front wheel removed, one rear seat folded down. I would go with a Class 2 hitch if I was doing it again – the class 1 isn’t really strong enough for more than 2 bikes.

I just throw it in the back of my truck. But when I had a Nissan Sentra, a very small car, I had a system in it with a 10″ subwoofer in the trunk, so the trunk was essentially useless. I’d have to take off the front wheel and sit it in the backseat and strap it down with the seatbelts.

  4. 22 Corolla hatch. Can easily fit a bike without taking it apart across the rear seat, fits better than via hatch. But I also have a kuat Sherpa 2.0 hitch mounted.

I’ve done everything from a Thule boot-mounted rack to just chucking them in the back of a hatchback with half the back seat folded flat, and even recently had a taxi drive me home with the boot open and the front wheel hanging out the back of the car lol. If you’re looking for ultimate convenience, get a tow bar installed and use a tow-bar-mounted rack. They’re the easiest to load and unload, and they don’t fuck your car up.
