Prototype #1. Lots of issues, but comes together pretty quickly. Cable routing and how to properly secure the shifter and cable stop are the biggest issues currently. Need to find a way to angle the cable stop and probably need a shorter barrel adjuster. Also everything just needs to be a bit more precise so the cable lines up with the channel on the shifter. Why do this? Because I got a GRX groupset for cheap and I don’t want to spend 200$+ on brifters.

  1. Can you still get your fingers around the brake lever? Ergonomics are probably an unknown until you’ve ridden. Looks cool, I’d made a “brifter prototype” plaq to confuse onlookers

  2. I respect the vision. Heads up though, IRD makes a comparable product that they sell without any shifters for cheaper than Gevenalle.

I did something similar years ago, you’ll be pleasantly surprised how well this does actually work and the ergonomics of using two fingers to swing it back and forth!

  4. If you dont have a 3d printer to make the mount, Id suggest just buying the real thing. it won’t disappoint

  5. This is awesome, Gevanalles are my favorite shifters and cool to see a cheaper way to do it

You might be able to use a bit of cable housing liner to keep the cable from fraying where it’s coming out of the barrel adjuster.
