The Ace Cafe has been on our list for years, so after leaving The Bike Shed in London we pointed the bikes towards one of Britain’s most famous motorcycle destinations.

Stay COMFORTABLE on long journeys with RIPPL Padded Under Shorts – https://ripplimpactgear.com/DARCY

Unfortunately, the ride didn’t go quite as planned…
While riding through London, the Indian Chief Vintage suddenly developed an electrical fault. The display failed, the engine cut out on the busy North Circular, and we were left wondering whether modern electronics have gone too far on motorcycles designed to celebrate a classic era.

Luckily we were at least comfortable in the saddle thanks to our Rippl Padded under-Shorts https://ripplimpactgear.com/DARCY

Thankfully we managed to get going again and finally arrived at the legendary Ace Cafe, where we explored the atmosphere, admired the bikes and enjoyed a proper all-day breakfast—although filming wasn’t made any easier by one of the loudest car sound systems we’ve ever encountered!
Join us for another honest father-and-son motorcycle adventure as we discuss why simplicity still matters, what makes a great biker destination and whether some modern technology actually takes away from the riding experience.
As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments.

  1. 9:50 Well done for addressing the elephant in the room. An enjoyable ride will cease to exist in this country if we carry on this trajectory. Our innate politeness and subsequent refusal to acknowledge difficult truths won’t change a thing.

  2. Last year i was test riding Indian scout 101 and sport chief both great bikes, but that screen? Oh lord that is the worst thing on those bikes. It took me literally more than 5 minutes just to put in address of place where i wanted to go…
When i ended the test ride, i speak about it with the dealer and she just smiled and said “its better to use paper map instead of that screen”. Tbh its insane, that on such expensive bike you get such a shitty screen. Other than that, indians are awesome and sport chief is my dream bike.
I hope that by the time i will be able to afford one they will upgrade that screen😂.
Anyway thanks for the video, it was great as always ❤

  3. I already advised you lads to look into the Harley-Davidson instead of the Indian. Now, though, maybe you should consider a Honda Rebel 1100 (still digital instruments, alas) or a Triumph Speedmaster 1200, too (hybrid instruments, IIRC). 😅
Who makes proper analogue instruments these days?

  4. Thought this since you first showed us the Indian: gorgeous looking bike but WHAT were they thinking with that dash? As you kind of said – that dash would be a deal breaker for me. While we're at it the switch gear looks cheap n nasty. Not good given the price tag.

  5. My tablet froze while I was watching this. Must be the Darcy effect?
My Harley Sportglide (soon to be sold) is the hottest running bike I have ever owned. On a few longer journeys I have actually thought that the bike was on fire there was so much heat coming off it!?

  6. I agree, the vintage needs a regular speedo. No need for the extra tech, it's on the phone anyway. Sell it cheaper, just make sure it has a fuel gauge. Leave the ride command for the tourers and offer (low tech) for those as well at a cheaper price.
