I’m doing a conversion from flat bar to drop bar on my bike (already received the whole transmission just waiting for the drops to be shipped)
I’m looking for some advice about the compatibility across these components:
-LTWOO ST-GR5110 mechanical 10-speed shifters
-Shimano Deore RD-M5120 Shadow RD+ rear derailleur (10/11-speed)
-Shimano CS-LG400 LinkGlide 10-speed cassette, 11-43T
Since the cassette is the same
Has anyone ever tried this exact combination? I would like to know if the shifter’s cable pull ratio is compatible with the RD-M5120 and if the shifting works correctly across the whole cassette.
In any case if you all have no previous experience I’ll try it myself. I read the LTWOO derailleur has no clutch and based on previous rides (having also 1x on the front) the chain keeps falling of especially when it’s on the smallest cog (probably bc the chain is also slack). Since switching to the deore derailleur no problem encountered even in light gravel.

While I haven’t tried this combination there are several issues here. You’re using a shifter with „hg“ road/gravel pull ratio on a „hg“ mtb derailleur with a link glide cassette.
Unless by some miracle the difference in pull ratio of the shifter/derailleur equates to the difference in derailleur travel of hg and lg cassettes, this shouldn’t work.
I haven’t done the math or experiments necessary to judge if it does but since you already have all the components you can just try and let us know.
Anyway I bet it doesn’t work…
You are trying to mix HG MTB + HG ROAD + LG parts. As much as I hate manufacturers making arbitrary limits to make things not cross-compatible, I don’t think this would work.
A tried to find cheap brifters that would work with Shimano 10 speed MTB derailleur and cassette and there is only one older set from Microshift and it wasn’t that cheap in the end and out of stock everywhere.
Let us know if this works but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
