So, because I’m an idiot and forgot to tie down the wheel straps on my Thule Proride 598 roof rack, my bike took off on a highway slightly twisting and cracking the main frame clamp of the Thule in the process.
Of course the best course of action is to get a new rack. Before I do that, did anyone disassemble one of these before?
1) Is the whole clamp metal? What is cracked is plastic, but I can see that the inside is metal and seems to be intact.
2) I searched for spare parts, found most things but not the clamp.
Bike is surprisingly fine after hitting the tarmac at 115 mph. Slightly tacoed rear wheel (first contact probably) and had to replace my rear axle (quick release ground down) and grips (same as the QR).
