Today we’re taking a walk along one of Europe’s most iconic waterfronts… the spectacular Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France.

Stretching for around 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) along the sparkling Mediterranean coastline, the Promenade des Anglais is far more than just a seaside walkway. Originally built in 1822, the promenade was funded by English visitors who spent their winters escaping the colder climate back home, giving this famous boulevard its name, which translates to “Walkway of the English.”

Today, it is the beating heart of Nice and one of the most recognisable destinations on the French Riviera (CΓ΄te d’Azur).
