This is currently listed for $800 on Marketplace. I don't know a lot about Scott bikes, but from the Crest fork I gathered this is their entry level model for Trance. I asked about the fork, and they said "Idk i'm the original owner, it came from the shop like this, I'm a novice and only rode it 3 times". I'm calling BS.. no remotely reputable bike shop would install a fork backwards. If that wasn't obvious enough, the brake assemblies are on opposite sides. Even with a backwards fork (easy fix) and that this is the basic model, $800 is a screaming deal for a bike like this that's only been ridden 3 times… something seems off no?

yes…disconnect the caliper, loosen the stem, spin the fork around, reattach things.

  2. I think technically the stem is mounted backwards. I think twisting that around would fix the brake cable and everything all in one!

Definitely backwards. The front brake hose is actually routed correctly – just loosen the stem both on the steerer, turn the forks 180 degrees clockwise, tighten the stem bolts & it’s fixed.

    But yeah, it sounds shady.

The fork is fine, the stem and handlebars and the rest of the bike are all backwards

  5. I’ve seen that – not from a particularly reputable bike shop, but from a place that sells bikes along with other stuff.

I used to help out with a kids bike club and some of the stuff I saw was pretty terrifying.

No, its only the handlebars that are on wrong, you can just loosen the upper stem fastener and spin it around. Its a 20 second job at most.

I think the fork is fine, the stem and handlebars are what’s reversed

Yes, hilariously so. I apologize, but it’s not that often you come across this kind of thing. 🙌🏻🫶🏻🙏🏻

Just to be sure, this is a giant brand bike and not a Scott. I have a trance and they are good bikes but this is not a Scott, if they advertised it that way it’s a little weird, IMO

I keep seeing this nonsense like once a week nowadays. Microplastics from the mother’s milk, I suspect.

That’s a Giant stance, retail is about $1,500 last I knew and the fork is definitely on backwards.

One of my best bargains was a bike where I was able to knock the previous owner down by the cost of a fork, because he had reassembled the bike incorrectly and the fork knocked when braking.

Sadly, I don’t think you could get any sort of discount in this scenario.
