They were good bikes but fairly old now, condition and price is going to be really important. It’s modern enough that it’s not an outright bad idea, but has some older standards and will be basically less capable than an equivalent modern bike- it’s from just on the edge of hte phase where bike handling got really good.

My main memory when I testrode one back in the day was that it was enormous fun, just “waggy tailed”, it made me want to float and jump and do one more lap. But it wasn’t actually all that great, despite that- it was less confident on hard stuff than other bikes I compared it with, I think it was basically quite tall, and when I timed it it was the slowest of all the bikes I tested despite feeling fast. It was more like a really long-legged trailbike than a full on enduro bike. The rear suspension was superb though. I liked it and I’d be happy to ride one today but the price would have to be really good and the condition excellent for me to buy one.

(I always say the same thing with older bikes- yes modern bikes are better, yes the standards are old and some parts might be harder to find… But people were riding pretty much the exact same stuff on these bikes as we do now, and having a blast)

Looks like it’s a 2016 Remedy. It’s pretty old. A lot has changed in that class of bike. I’d probably put it around $700 if everything is in good working shape.

The components are so-so on it. I don’t love the Monarch shock. We had issues with them in our household. Multiple warranties.

It will a solid upgrade from what you are on. But it will be a far cry from a similar bike that is less than 5 years old.

It’s right at the edge. 2016 is right in the middle of when trail bikes were going through a lot of change. This is a mish mash of modern and old. Wide bars, short stem, dropper, in the hayday of 27.5. 2×10 drive train.

Personally, in that price range (assuming I’m guessing your budget correctly) and for your use case, I would probably be looking at a rowdy hardtail less than 5 years old. Something like a Roscoe.
