Do you use Squirt? Also had this. I’ve been told that I’ve been using too much, but I couldn’t get it right.
It’s less messy than oil based lubes, but still accumulates grime. Wiping chain after every ride helps (every 50km in my case).
Even immersive wax still collects some, although less than drip wax.
Yes that’s normal for me with Squirt. Still prefer it to lube because it’s way less messy. Better to have to scrape some dry boogers from your jockey wheels than have black oil all over.
A little off topic but the biggest downside of wax (at least drip wax) is less rust protection in my experience.
The best solution is to NOT use Squirt.
Effetto Mariposa is much better there.
Silca probably as well, but the bottle is a disaster and half of the product gets wasted.
As soon as the Effetto Mariposa bottle will be empty, I will refill it with the Silca.
