Pedal strike to high side OTB off the side of a relatively steep trail. This was about 8 miles into the Monarch Crest trail on mellow part of the trail. Missed the rock in my peripherals and pedaled in a bad spot. Dumb mistake. Had a three mile hike to the ambulance and nice bumpy ride down the fire road. I got two plates and screws put in yesterday to piece me back together.

Brutal! You learned an expensive lesson: only pedal when necessary!

Man from from laughing one second to getting hurt! That’s the worst. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

    Pedal strike

Common feature on modern bikes.  Strategically pedaling should not be a skill.   That said, people don’t intuitively like high bottom brackets. Harder to sell with high bottom brackets.

Take all the time to heal. If this is your first broken bone, You might be surprised how much energy recovery takes.
Good opportunity to do another activity for a while.

Always the mellow section that gets you, soon as you think you can relax and quit scanning for rocks.

  5. Sorry to hear it. Currently in a sling and healing from ORIF Clavicle surgery post crashing myself. Heal up and take it slow. Sending you good vibes!

Did that during a race. Endorphins kicked in and i rode to the finish.

    How’s the bike?
