I have this old Mercedes Benz bicycle to repair and it comes with this weird toothless belt drivetrain. When I try to pedal it slips constantly making riding almost impossible. Does anybody have any experience with these and can possibly help?

It seems that with this Mercedes-Benz bicycle, the belt tends to slip as it ages, making the bike unrideable. The replacement belt appears to be the “CONTITECH FO-Z XPZ 1360”.
Are you worried about that crack on the seat stay?
1. Use a better belt system, like Gates.
2. Check tension
3. Check belt sprocket condition
4. Use a better belt system.
Since the hub is a Shimano Inter 7, wouldn’t it be possible to replace the weird rear sprocket with a standard one?
