Rode rigid & front sus hard tails most of my riding. First time riding an actual dh bike on an actual course, I had 0 problem hanging with my friends that were current pro's at the time. It honestly felt very weird being on a dh bike with 29" wheels. You don't have to do much of anything, you just start going and the bike really does the riding. Honestly feels fake & disconnected, if that makes sense.
its true i use to be rllly bad at riding on my fulll sus and then it broke and i had no funds so i rode the dj and did bigger jumps then on my full sus and got more steezy and then 8 weeks pass and my bikes fixed and now i can whip. well
I'm 12 years old and I've been riding hardtails and bmx all my life , I got my first full suspension mtb yesterday that I got for 225 quid off Facebook marketplace and just after like 3-4 hours riding it it feels insane and I'm really looking forwards to pushing myself to the limits and progress my mtb skills . After riding hardtails on teck and a few jumps I've learnt how to pick right lines but now that I've got my new bike I can ride those same lines and new ones but really send it without worrying. My old bike was also holding me back from improving because it had lots of issues, the fork was on the edge of snapping and just didn't really give me the confidence to learn new jumps and trails but like I said now that I've got a new bike I can pass those fears and handle my full sus amazing
I know that im really late but i hope someone saw this so they might pick up a full sus , improve, and have a blastπ
Even just riding short travel in the bike park or a hard tail definitely takes your game up a level. Less suspension makes you ride worse which makes you have to get better π
For me I just have a hard tail itβs not a dj but it does have 26β but thereβs no pump tracks near me so yeah and theres no way my parents would by me another bike
Id never ridden real mtb trails just pumptrack, skatepark and dirt jumps on my dj then first time on a full sus on a red mtb trail i was able to keep up with an enduro racer who has been riding for 15 yrs (my freinds dad)

Hardtail or die πͺ
I'm a bmx racer
But bmx helps my mountain biking
And mountain biking helps my gravel riding
And gravel riding helps my road riding
And road riding helps my indoor riding
So bmx helps my indoor riding
trying to learn your first 360 on a big boy dh bike sounds genuinely impossible x3
I ride both
It does work.
Umm actually DJs do have suspension, on the fork usually
Itβs almost like BMX racing and Pump Track riding is a pressure cooker for mastery
Iβm too broke for a duelie

Itβs so fun on a dj
It's true but a DJ have suspension just really stiff
I rode a bmx and than had a full suspension and have gotten a lot better enough to buy a custom bike
