Pretty standard advertisement strategy these days tbh. Sucks that the highlighted product isn’t on ANY type of discount though.
If you really want a cheap wax pot just get one of the many nearly identical products for skin wax melting available on amazon for $20-$50.
Fwiw that Silca wax kit will probs go on sale for Black Friday. I bought one last year for our household.
I’ve found sometimes it’s specific sizes of things on sale. Like a 48cm or 62cm frame, but the usual 52-58cm frames are reg price
Competitive Cyclist/Backcountry has gotten so scammy. For years they were my preferred e-store for cycling stuff but I’ll generally avoid them now – deceptive sales, things marked as in-stock but shipping delayed indefinitely, overbearing email campaigns. These days I’d much rather buy from Bike Tires Direct or Performance Bike for anything I don’t shop local for.
Occasionally bike tires direct had the silca thing on 30% off. I like BTD much more than any other bike related retailers.
Personal favorite tactic backcountry/competitive cyclist has been doing lately is giving 20% off full price coupons, but marking down all the good stuff by 2% so you can’t use the coupon on it.
It’s a 4th of July sale. It’s currently July 2nd.
I saw this too and was so mad. I’ve basically stopped ordering from competitive cyclist over the past few years.
