Well, stalking Marketplace nonstop for years had finally worked in my favor. I saw this Salsa Casserole listed two mornings ago and I immediately fell in love with it. So I listed an old PING driver I had for the same price, sold the driver yesterday morning, and picked up the frame a few hours later! I love it and can't wait to ride it. I'm planning to go full classic randonneur with this build.

I was looking at these years ago and always thought they looked gorgeous, I got a Rawland Nordavinden instead, but these stuck in my head…….I’m sure it’ll ride as good as it looks

Trading a PING driver for a Casserole is a hell of a pivot, congrats. The original front rack makes it, can’t wait to see the rando build.

Always fun looking up these online. Somewhere between pots, pans, casserolls and other kitchenware

  5. I had a mustard yellow with the matching chain guard. Great commuter bike for yeeeears.

Two things to watch out for. Throw away the original color matching stem if its included. Those were all recalled after failures. 20 years ago QBP was doing free exchanges, but I assume thats long done.

The forward facing drop outs are stainless and slippery as hell. You basically have to destroy your bearings to get enough clamping force. An open cam style QR was definitely not sufficient. Lots of folks converted to threaded axles and lock nuts. I tried knurling the 4 faces to mediocre effect. If i was to try again Id relent and immediately get tugnut/C tension axle retainer.
