Self-promotion / mods informed
Hey everyone,
I’m a small independent iOS developer, and I’d like to share something I’ve been building: Cyclé Unit, a privacy-friendly cycling app for iPhone and Apple Watch.
I know this is self-promotion, so I want to be upfront about that. I’m mainly interested in thoughts from people who do longer rides, touring, weekend trips, or route-based cycling.
The app is built around a simple idea: ride tracking, routes, and health data should work without forcing you into an account or cloud service.
Cyclé Unit does not require an account, cloud login, or external servers. Your workout data stays on your device or in Apple Health unless you explicitly choose to export or share something.
Features that might be useful for bicycle touring:
• Import GPX routes and follow them on the map
• Get turn hints while riding
• See an elevation profile and your current position on the route
• Record rides with Apple Watch heart rate and iPhone live metrics
• Save workouts, routes, distance, elevation, heart rate, and active energy to Apple Health
• Create routes from previous rides
• Track bikes and equipment, including tires, brakes, and chain wax service
• See live weather details like wind, rain alerts, temperature, and UV index
• Explore covered areas with Tile Hunting
There is also an indoor trainer mode, but for this community I’m mostly interested in the outdoor and route side of the app.
For people who tour or do longer multi-hour rides: what would actually be useful in an app like this? Better GPX handling, clearer turn hints, equipment tracking, offline-focused features, battery-friendly tracking, or something else entirely?
Thanks for reading — and I’m happy to answer questions.

Sounds interesting, but I use Android.
How does it calculate turn hints? Does it work with any GPX provided? Do you have any demo for it?
Looks good 🙂
