Howdy yall, I have a wedding coming up & I need to lose some weight! I used to ride a lot in SLC with a fixed gear, but I got cut off today & ate pavement pretty good, now that I’m older & live in the suburbs, I’m a little more risk adverse & would like to be able to stop faster & have a gear or two. I don’t know much about more modern bikes, brakes & gearsets 😂 Tell me which bike is the best! I have a mostly flat bike trail near my house, but with a lot of crosswalks I have to stop at. I’m really only riding for health at this point! I know prices are all over the place, I’m looking for the best bang for buck I guess!

Jamis. Haggle a bit to get the price down if possible. Take it to a shop to have them look it over and tune it up. Have them explain tire pressures and such while you’re at it.
As for riding on a “trail”, hopefully you mean it’s a paved bike path type situation because these are all road bikes made for pavement, not dirt.
