I got a new bike about 3 months ago, maybe 1000k ridden. Suddenly on my last ride it started squeaking very loudly when I was coasting. A temporary fix was loosening the rear axis a little, but the noise started again later.

I took off the week, checked for any debris stuck, everything looks fine. The sound is only when coasting, if I spin the pedals it goes away.

Your rear brake is dragging. Get your wheel installed with your qr tightened properly the your brake caliper needs to be adjusted (centered over the brake rotor) so it doesn’t rub. There are two bolts attaching the brake caliper to the frame, likely 5mm hex, you will loosen those bolts to move the caliper laterally to get it to stop rubbing.

  2. Be careful with your fingers that close to the disc!!

Your quick release is not tightened properly. It should be rotated like you are doing only until it just begins to get tight, then flip the quick release lever over to tighten. The brake rubbing might go away just by tightening the wheel properly.

  3. If it only happens while coasting, it could be the freewheel bearing. Some freewheels don’t have proper ball bearings, for example Mavic freewheels at some point only used a plastic bushing that could make a loud noise once worn.

That is the rear brake rubbing the pad. It likely doesn’t happen when you push the pedals forward (in this video) because the QR skewer cam is open and there’s enough play from the drivetrain pulling the rotor away from the pad it’s rubbing.

Does this happen when the QR cam is closed/locked? Does it happen when you ride? If so, it’s likely a minor brake pad adjustment.

  5. You don’t tighten wiith the lever. Freehub may need a service. Grease, bearings

Brake is off center I literally just corrected this on my own bike play with how tight you have your qr, if that fails loosen caliper bolts reset pistons and realign the caliper 🤘🏽
