Hey bike reddit. I was riding and had a hard shift and then my gears kept what felt like trying to jump. I thought it might be the derailleur so I played with the quick adjustment barrel thing on my ride. Didn’t solve anything but since it kept falling back into its gear I finished my ride. Taking a closer look this is for sure the problem.
My question is does it look the like sprockets are a little worn? I’m not too familiar with bike maintenance but the sprockets look kinda shaved. Maybe this is normal? Bike has about 1k miles on it. Appreciate any input.

Cassette looks fine. Looks like you need a new chain. Clean your cassette while you have the wheel off.
If you’re getting shifting issues after the new chain, it’s likely a hanger/cage issue.
The gears have all kinds of funny shapes from factory on the teeth. Shifting release and pickup points, primarily.
To my eye it looks ok. The only real way to know is to get a new chain, install it, make sure everything’s adjusted properly, and then go put load on the system (take it for a ride). If you get slipping, replace cassette/fw.
Sounds good thanks!
