That protects your spokes in the event your chain falls from the cassette. You don’t remove it. Nice wheel btw

Its called a dork disk. Either cut it away or remove the cassette for which you need special tools

Dork disc, you can just cut it off. It’s there to prevent the chain dislodging into the wheel/spokes but that risk is relatively low these days.

Either you remove the cassette with the cassette removal tool or just snap it with a pair of pliers. And yes you can absolutely remove it all it’ll do is collect dirty chain grease and make you look like a rookie
