Can Paul ride his Brompton G Line up the steepest residential street in the UK?
Vale Street in Bristol has an average gradient of 23% with a section that is a 1 in 4 (25%)!

You could sit on the handlebars whilst pedaling.
Well done Paul = daft blighter ๐
The gradient of Baldwin Street in Dunedin, Aotearoa, New Zealand, is 34.8%, making it the steepest street in the world according to Guinness World Records. Iโve walked it up and down. Iโd never dream of riding it up or down.
Like a machine man, calves like Tom Platzโฆ
Totally bonkers Paul, but well done!!
I've been down that in a car, fast, I nearly shat myself…
I was quite interested in the G Line but I now have reservations about its design after seeing a pretty bad head tube failure. See the video on Velocity Printworks for the issue. Looks bad to me. I would appreciate your view on this Paul as you are obviously a good bike mechanic?
Surely once was enough!
Fantastic Paul, your the man,well done, it's a 54 front ring on the G line, I'm looking at a 12 Brompton C line, I've got a 3 speed & 6 speed Brompton, so a 12 speed should tackle any hill,enjoyed the video. ๐
Well done Paul. Wonder how much of a difference the 44T sprocket would make to the difficulty.
Well done Paul..calves like Nijinsky๐๐
We travelled as a group of 10 riders from Australia to Dunedin where we walked down the steepest street in the World at 35%….there is no way l would even ride down it. You did that ride twice… WOW
