Equipped failure is one of the most dangerous situations. I’ve personally taken some hits. That was about the best outcome you can hope for there. Sry about your bike

Side note:reminds me of the story my buddy told me about when he got a flat on the way to the skatepark. Got a flat, threw his bike at a small tree, and the bars snapped right on the bend. First thing he was gonna do at the park was drop in on a 5 foot quarter

Luck! Same thing happened to a friend of mine, but he ended up kissing concrete, losing teeth and a couple days of memory. It’s one of the reasons I cut my steer tube down so there’s pretty much nothing between the stem and headset, and change forks out every couple years. Glad you’re good and got a decent clip out of it!
