Ride out to SuperBike Factory in Donington to do a bit of innocent window shopping maybe for a bigger bike? Obviously how all bad financial decisions start!

We stopped at Cafe 26 / Flights & Bites at Tatenhill Airfield first, brilliant bike stop if you like planes, bikes, brews and watching things take off close to your sandwich. The roads there were nicer than expected, especially coming from the Uttoxeter side. I also got to sit on a lowered Triumph Tiger 660 thanks to a lovely couple we met there, which was really helpful because most bikes in showrooms are not exactly built for someone with a 26 inch inside leg and the confidence level of a nervous squirrel.

Finally we headed over to SuperBike Factory located in Donington, I got stung by something, we came in the wrong way, the car park was full of bikes (what else), and I spent most of the arrival whispering “don’t drop the bike” like a woman trying to manifest balance through fear.

If you enjoy real UK motorcycle rides, biker cafés, awkward moments, and a female rider building confidence on a bigger bike, subscribe and come along for the next bit of Twisted Therapy.

  1. I have a 2018 Street twin which is a nice low bike 750mm seat height the newer 2019 models are 790mm, she has a lovely bit of torque when you open her up and the weight is all low down, happy shopping take care 👍

  2. Always makes me laugh at people react to bees and wasps… When I were a kid we used to go smash up their hive and run away and get stun a hundred times, I'm so used to being stun it doesn't bother me.

  3. You are really on our local turf. Carol's home town is Burton on Trent. The Superbike Factory has lots of bikes, some of them are absolute sheds, some are fine. No test rides there unfortunately. I personally would prefer a smaller dealer.
Unfortunately your choice is always going to be limited with your little legs.
That church near the end was Breedon on the Hill. A large quarry below has left it sitting on a bit of a cliff edge.

  4. I admire shorter new riders, it must take a lot of practice to feel confident when stopping….on top of getting use to a bike's controls ! 👍🏻 Hope you find your ideal next bike.

  5. Have you not seen the shorts on YT with that very short Asian lady riding a GS with stabilisers that come out when she has to stop?
    Go on get a GS😂😂😂😂😂

  6. Don't forget the weight of some of these, it's fine riding along, but when moving the bike around or on uneven ground you may find it harder. I thought you looked great on several of those you tried, especially the Triumph 660 which I think you said was lowered (wanted one myself) I hope you find something that suits and you love. Keep safe and enjoy it. :>)

  7. Have you tried a Tiger low, 760 mm seat height , you can also get a low rider seat to get it even lower, I have a 28 inch inside leg and manage a full height tiger with a low rider seat,as Glyn will tell you, the Tiger isn’t a heavy bike .
Good luck in your search 👍

  8. I may be worth looking at the
BMW R1200/1250 R with the very low seat option drops it to790 mm.
Yes over 220kg but the weight is low down so easy to ride at low speed. By fitting engine bars the protects the cyclinder heads its easy to pick up should you drop it. From a fellow short ass 😂

  9. My friends wife is a bit short too about 5'2". She rides a lowered mt-07 but has to watch out when stopping there is no negative camber. When first getting your license it is nearly all about getting a bigger engine faster bike but over the years I find it has become harder to 'enjoy' them unless you book a track day. I have bikes from 250 to 1200cc and I think I have more fun on the tracker 400 at time.I got stung in the face between my cheek and nose by a wasp. I was really painful and became swollen. Luckily it happened not far from home.

Edit, don't worry about mistakes in public, I do them all the time and not small ones either. I hadn't been on a train in nearly 20 years and took a ride on one last Christmas. Got to Glasgow central and didn't know how to get through the barrier. I watched other people wave their phones and ticket like things over a scanner and pass through but that never worked for my ticket. A busy queue formed so I asked the guy behind me and I had to put my ticket in this almost invisible slot. It worked, I got through and I turned round and said thanks.
Last week I couldn't get out of Lidl. Bought my shopping filled the trolley and the barrier never opened, so after bumping into it 3 times a cashier shouted over, you need to scan the recipe. So it was back to the train ticket scenario, where do I scan it. Figured it out and looked up to see all the customers at the checkouts looking at me. I asked if this was new and one said yes, 8 months ago. I waved bye and said I guess I don't use Lidl very often.
I'm 50, retired and lost my wife to cancer and I have reached a stage where I don't care what other people think. It is a remarkable weight that's lifted when you become aware that they may snigger but nobody is bothered really. Thanks if you reached the end of my waffle.

  10. Completely agree with what you said! I’ve been riding pillion with my husband for 7yrs and finally took my CBT a few months back. However, my husband took me to an empty car park and taught me how to change gears, turn, etc before the CBT. I’ve only ridden about 8x and honestly, if my husband wasn’t riding with me, I’d have no confidence at all!
Love that each ride I’ve been on though, I’ve seen plenty of female riders ❤

  11. Hello from Burry Port, 15 miles west of Swansea. It just struck me, if you could find a nice refurbished one with mechanicals done, an aircooled Yamaha RD 350 would be a great bike for you. They're light, low and narrow.

  12. hey, i also have short legs and bought the BMW F800 GS factory lowered version and i love it. think you sat on one in a previous video but i would encourage you to take one on a test ride.
