I was out yesterday for a ride and found this on the side of the trail. Its an aquarium with it's door open with at least 3 snake skin sheds in it. Looks freshly left. Why, people, why? This is central NJ.

you should report this. There are cameras everywhere, they can find that guy probably.

Absolutely cruel to the snake and illegal. Report this to the proper authorities (both wildlife mgnt and your local Humane Society)
Is this near a road? Seems more likely that someone’s tank fell off a car or truck. They aren’t lightweight and it’s a whole lot of extra effort to carry the whole enclosure out there just to dump the poor snake. They also aren’t cheap.
I have snakes and whenever I travel with them, the tanks get loaded just like this but the snakes go into a pillowcase and ride in the front seat lol.
I’m not surprised at the dumping. People dump pets all the time.
I’m surprised at leaving behind a fancy hab. Those things cost money.
