Our first day on the EuroVelo route may have been behind us, but the adventure was only getting started.

This is Episode 4 of our EuroVelo family cycling adventure.

Leaving Velo Camargue behind, we cross the ferry and continue following the Via Rhôna (EuroVelo 17) as our family of eight slowly settles into life on loaded touring bikes. With miles ahead of us and a weekend destination in Avignon, we expected another scenic day of cycling through southern France.

Instead, we found ourselves facing one of the toughest climbs we’ve ever experienced.

Along the way, we ride quiet roads, discover beautiful countryside, push through unexpected challenges, and end the day at a campsite that reminds us exactly why we started this adventure in the first place.

If you’ve ever dreamed about bicycle touring, family travel, bikepacking, or cycling across Europe, we hope this series gives you practical ideas and the confidence to plan your own adventure.

Subscribe to follow our family’s three-month journey as we ride the EuroVelo routes across Europe.

  1. First to comment—it's a pleasure. I've been waiting for this video all week. It's so cool to watch. Greetings from Germany. It's 38 degrees Celsius right now, and no one here has air conditioning…. It's 30 degrees in our apartment. I hope its better for you in the US. Best Luca.
