This medium framed 2011 Giant Glory DH rig was my main bike about 8 years ago, I stopped riding for a long while then moved house and the glory has sat in my mums garage ever since. 2 years ago I bought the medium framed Commencal Meta AM hardtail and have been having a great time riding it, I feel faster and more in control than ever before despite the long break.

This weekend, I decided I wanted to get the glory back out of storage and took it for a ride….it was awful, every corner, every jump I could feel the shock squat and front lift almost chucking me off the bike several times.

I know the older geometry Glory is about 40 to 50mm shorter reach than the commencal but I didn't think that would be enough to completely shift my balance.

TLDR: Why can't I ride the Glory without nearly coming off the back of the bike?

1) Is the old geometry Glory, being 50mm shorter reach, really making that much of a difference?

2) Is the Glory setup completely wrong, as in way too soft on the rear?

3) Is my riding style actually that bad and I'm putting my weight way too far back?
