Hey everyone,
Looking for some advice because this happened completely out of nowhere.
I was riding when my drivetrain suddenly jammed at the front. The chain got caught and after stopping I found my SRAM RED AXS front derailleur looking like it does in the photos.
The aluminum outer cage is visibly bent inward. The derailleur body itself still appears to be mounted to the frame, but the cage is no longer straight. The chain also got wedged between the derailleur and the chainrings.
A few questions:
Does this look like a bent front derailleur cage that needs to be replaced, or is there any chance it can be bent back?
Could the derailleur have rotated on the braze-on mount, or does this look like the cage itself is what failed?
Is there anything specific I should inspect on the carbon frame or braze-on mount before attempting any repair?
Has anyone had this happen on SRAM RED AXS before? If so, what ended up needing replacement?
I’m not planning to ride it until I know what’s going on. My biggest concern is whether this is “replace the derailleur and re-adjust it” or whether I should be worried about hidden frame damage.
Any thoughts or things I should check would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Looks like the braze-on to me
Sorry bro ouch .. I have no idea … I just wanted to say to it “can’t park there … “
How is this even possible?
How did you get the beans above the frank?
From the second photo it appears that the braze-on attachment has bent forward. Do not try to bend it back as it’ll likely snap and/or cause damage to the frame.
If you’re capable, remove the front mech and inspect the frame for damage. Best case scenario It’s likely that the front mech is fine but the braze-on attachment is destroyed, but could potentially be replaced. If the frame is damaged that’s worst case scenario.
Take it to the bike shop.
Hard to tell but you may need a new braze on tab for your frame. But it does look like that is replaceable and bolts on. It could be that the FD just rotated on the tab but it’s probably bent. Hopefully the force on the tab didn’t do anything to your frame.
Likely need a new FD and your back in Biz. Just just the new Rival E1 FD. It’s virtually identical just uses aluminum instead of titanium and costs 1/3 the price.

Dude, what did you do.
How did you get that there?
Also, I hate SRAM FDs.
Single chainring conversion,
time to go 1x! looks like a riveted FD hanger so probably not a cheap fix. hopefully you can get some money back for the derailleur itself, those old 11 speed ones are always in high demand
Holy OOF
i said “oof” out loud
