Day 3 or 8 cycling the #wildatlanticway. Sheep’s Head Peninsula was quiet, rugged, and exactly what we were hoping for. We rolled out of Goleen in the morning mist, climbed high above Bantry Bay, and spent most of the day with the road almost entirely to ourselves. Just quiet lanes, open mountain views, and the kind of riding that reminds you why you travel by bike in the first place.
Partway through the ride, we found the Heron Gallery Café in Ahakista. Fresh coffee, homemade cake, local art, a beautiful garden, and the perfect excuse to linger a little longer before tackling the final climb.
The day finished with a long descent into Bantry. We took it slow because when the views are that good, there’s no reason to rush.
