Hello all!
I currently have a 2014 Trek Superfly 8 hardtail MTB that I bought a few months ago. Initially, I thought I was going to be doing standard mountain biking, but I’ve ended up using it almost exclusively for long-distance pavement and smooth gravel cruising instead.

I’ve been consistently hitting 12-20 mile rides 3-4 times a week for the past 2 months. I know I have the lungs and legs to go way farther, but I feel like the heavy mountain bike setup and front suspension are holding me back and draining my energy on long, flat stretches.

That being said, I’m looking to sell my Trek and swap it for a gravel bike. My goals are to push much further into long-distance endurance riding and eventually train to do serious mountain climbs into the Black Hills. I think a gravel bike makes the most sense so I can keep the speed on pavement but still handle the dirt, fire roads, and steep grades when I start heading up elevation.

Im 22, 5’9 240 lb.
Let me know what kind of bike you recommend!
TIA!

Look at an all road bike. What’s the budget? $1000 you have Primos Dame, or 4130 State Bicycle Co, both are good entry level steel bikes. $700 Ozark trails G2 Rebel Pro aluminum 6160 bike. 1800 you move into trek checkpoint range, 3000 you look at carbon frame bikes, or 7000 you have titanium framed all road like the black heart.

If just starting out, look at a steel frame or aluminum framed bike.
