So I'm not entirely sure if there was wear from repeated actions, or I just got unlucky and it tore in one go, however….
I usually keep the crank holder straps attached to the wheel straps when not in use. To detach I just pull the crank strap off without thinking.
Well, this time I tore the damn strap off right at the base. Luckily I was home and had an alternative to use, and replacement straps for SeaSucker are cheap and super easy to swap.
But yeah, maybe have a look for wear on your rack straps, velcro OR rubber/plastic. Just in case.

What is that?
This just adds to my fear of ever purchasing sucker style racks.
No cheesy straps to check here, no worries.
I swapped mine for the ratchet version
I’ll never trust these things again after my bike fell onto the side of my car when the back sucker popped off. Almost shattered my side window and scratched tf out of my roof and door.
The cost of a few broken bikes to these things adds up to the cost of a vehicle upgrade that could’ve prevented it. Either in the form of a proper hitch and rack, or even a better vehicle in general like a truck….
how do you store the rear suction cup? i always velcro mine back together. i just had to replace a suction pump. i’m on year 2 with the talon
