Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here and I hope you are all doing well. I had my bicycle back wheel fixed and this rear derailleur kept coming out after cycling for perhaps around 10 minutes. I was wondering if, as the mechanic mentioned, the rear derailleur has snapped and requires replacement or it’s just not secured correctly? I felt that it did not snap, and it’s just not secured properly. Thanks for your time!

Edit: Hi. Thanks for all of your useful inputs. Tomorrow, I will see if I can tighten the Adapter Bolt and the nut, and hopefully the derailleur won't drop off. Have a good day!

With that frame (no gear hanger) that’s probably one of your only options

  2. Can’t put my finger on it. But your derailleur or derailleur hanger seems off.

That black metal hook should be held onto the frame where the axle comes out.

Looking at it you do need new parts but it’s not the derailer.

There’s a missing plate as u/HG1998 said and the axle nuts look shot to me, the chewing!, so I think it wise to replace those.

So you need 2 cheap parts.
