Anyone seen such defect? Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29 x 2.35" with ~150 km on it and the outer thread layer simply started peeling off mid-race. Surprisingly I was able to make it to the finish line without a puncture.
I had the same peeling issue on a similar tire. Did not tried any warranty as I had used it a bit more than you

Definitely file a warranty claim.

Perfectly normal. It’s just shedding its skin ready for its next stage of growth. Recent discoveries have even found examples in the wild of up to 32 inches in diameter!

Schwalbe better warranty replace that bullshit. Look around the tire to see if there’s any signs of dry rotting as that usually goes with something like this. Age can really get tires. Sometimes it takes a long while to get a tire from production to consumer. If stored badly enough it can happen in 6mpnths or a year. Whether it’s manufacturing or storage it’s on schwalbe.Â

is the high temperatures to blame for this? or would it have happened anyway?

I’ve only seen this on a 15+ year old car tyre. No way this is normal.

Send that first pic to Schwalbe, they should replace this tire. Very obviously a manufacturing defect.

No no, it’s a hidden compartment for band aids and stuff.

Could this have something to do with the ongoing heat wave In Europe ? I have been running schwalbe tires for years and never had any kind of issue other than they leak sealant through sidewalls a little bit, but that’s not really a big issue.

LOL! Never seen that one before.🤣
Tire delamination, never seen it that badÂ
Second thread I see today where the outer tire hull delaminated from the next layer on a schwalbe tire. Maybe they had a glue issue for some batches.
