Just swapped in these new Ergon PT pedals from the shitty stock ones and holy cow the difference is astounding when wearing less structured shoes! I'm a casual commuter with a cheap ebike who really doesn't want/need anything too fancy or specialized. Huge thanks to the nice Swedish lady at the used bike shop who noticed my barefoot shoes and recommended these!

I'm a little concerned about how they'll do in the rain so we will see how they do when the weather changes.

  1. In my experience, only the pedals with metal pins do really well in the rain. They also eat up your shoes pretty badly though, so these wide sandpaper type pedals are a good compromise.

I’ve only heard great things about these. I’ve got the Look city pedals, which are similar, but have a rubber surface. I love them and they can be ridden barefoot.

  3. My stock pedals were actually a fairly flat bass but I did not like them in light rain or when there was snow outside.

I switched them for some standard but non-aggressive pedals with pins and now I’m currently running red shift arc light pedals on my bike, which are really nice

  4. I’ve cycled close to 7000km on those. In combination with my trail running shoes they work great in the rain.

Muddy or wet sandy soles can be an issue, happened very seldom to me

  5. I like the grip tape pedals for commuting, I have a set of VP Components VP831P on an ebike.

Me and my wife have the look geo city pedals and like them. These look pretty similar.

  7. We’ve been riding Moto (https://www.motobicycles.com/) pedals on our cargo bike and commute bikes for about 5 years. Very similar pedal concept and the grip tape works great in the rain. A little bit of mud and they lose all grip though, but I’m not using them on any bikes that go in the mud or even get close to it. Spouse is a barefoot shoe convert and she loves having a big flat platform and no harsh pins.

  8. Are those the large size PT pedals? Can you measure the length/width of them? I can’t seem to find and measurements of them anywhere online. I want big, flat pedals, but those almost look too big, but it’s hard to tell. Thanks!!

  9. My Specialized Vado came with stock pedals like those. I like them. No trouble in rain. The only time I’ve slipped was when I made the questionable decision to bike in dress shoes.

  10. Best pedal I have used for commuting is just any BMX specific pedal, doesn’t eat up the sole of your shoe, accidental shinners doesn’t hurt that bad, they work surprising well during heavy down pour and they are almost indestructible.
