**im not looking for feedback if this is ridable, ive contacted canyon and i am not riding until further notice… just looking for others who have maybe had this issue and dealt directly with canyon on it. thanks!!

anyone have this issue with canyon steerer tube? never over-torqued. noticed when i swapped stem/bars. not cracked all the way through and only goes about 2 inches down… looks almost like delaminating.

design flaw? no compression plug & plastic stem cap?

  1. Canyons with 1 1/4″ steerer tubes don’t need a supportive compression plug because of the strength of the tube. Unfortunately due to the location aligning with the stem clamp area it looks like it was because the stem was repeatedly over-torqued.

If they don’t warranty it (and I’d be surprised if they did) they sell ‘crash replacement’ forks for around $300 USD. So it’s not the end of the world.
