My original post got downvoted like crazy- making this quite discouraging to post here. But, I figured for the ones that were actually decent humans- here's the product.

It's not perfect by any means, but I wanted to at least build one as a prototype and see how well I like the design. See what needs to be changed etc. Then I will build a much nicer one. My theme is early 2000s futuristic. Picture bicentennial man, artificial intelligence, those kind of movies. But with the objective to make a bike like a modern araya micro hurry. Here's my "Citi".

Also to whoever said making a bicycle frame is something hard to do, it's definitely not. Granted, I have been building car parts for 20 years and desert race stuff (welding on '065 steel is quite difficult for me though)

I don't design things before I make them. The AI generated picture was strictly to show you guys what's in my head. Hopefully you guys enjoy!

The area in the middle between the two blue stripes and the word "Citi" is in 400 grit brushed stainless steel below the paint. It is finished in a satin aluminum color.

Is that u-shaped thing a tube from a heat exchanger or somebody’s busted Kryptonite lock?

  2. Genuinely impressed with the end product, those welds cleaned up nicely and the paint job is smart. Maybe a case where it’s best not to show the sausage being made

the welds look solid and that brushed stainless detail is a nice touch, but those u-shaped frame tubes are gonna feel weird to grip if you’re actually planning to ride this thing.

Next logical thing would be to crochet a framebag that fits inside the U shape.

This is a nice bit of welding, and looks like a fun art project.

As bit of engineering, have you worked out how it will hold up to use? Because your seat tube isn’t connected at bottom, and your chainstay and seat stay make an irregular quadrilateral, it looks like all the forces from sitting and pedalling are going to be trying to pivot around the connection at the U-tube and the seat post.
