I'm moving to a new spot where I have some regular trips of 1-2 miles that I'd like to try biking. It's a semi-urban area, but these trips can be accomplished almost entirely on residential streets or marked bike lines. I know how to ride but haven't ever been a regular city rider, so I'll have a lot to learn.
I want to get a bike that's good for this kind of use. I don't want to spend a ton, but want something that could be a good medium-term solution and would be worth upgrading/maintaining if I like it. Based on my reading, it seems like hybrids are the way to go for me.
Saw this listing for a Trek Dual Sport that looks like my size. It's a little more than I had wanted to spend at this stage, but I'm considering it. What do people think? Should I aim for something cheaper first to see if biking regularly works for me? Any other recommendations?
