Hi all, this is a pick of my Fuji Jari’s carbon fork with my makeshift fork mounts for my cargo cages. The genius at the assembly plant over torqued every single bolt in the rivnuts (all stripped out). This my low budget solution. I didn’t tighten the hose clamps too much because it’s a carbon fork. I feel pretty happy with the result. What are your guys thoughts?

Looks great. Is that a little bit of rubber on the inside there to keep the hose clamp from directly squeezing on the carbon fork?
Nice, how much weight you’ll think it holds? Let us know when you test. I may have to try this method.
Personally I wouldnt do that to a carbon fork. Would try find another way to carry things. But that’s just me and not loving clamping things to carbon.
No. No rotational stop, run the risk of your cargo swinging forward or back into your wheel.
While not cheap, for $60 plus an axle for $30-$40 you can have a rock solid set up with this [https://oldmanmountain.com/product/axle-pack-3/](https://oldmanmountain.com/product/axle-pack-3/)
That $100 will save you thousands in ER bills and $1,000+ to replace the fork and wheel you destroy.
This will work perfectly fine, until it doesn’t.
Do the rivnuts spin when you try to remove the bolts, or are the bolts just too hard to move?
It looks like your fork has eyelets for screwing on mounts / cargo cages – why not use those?
There appears to be an unused braze-on just above the bottle cage?
Let’s see them stripped out holes, I would probably spend more time with a tap to try and recut them.
Some blue locktite after cleaning the threads out, those bolts ain’t going nowhere, bring your backup solution for piece of mind
Your solution will work, but if it stops working your gunna be left holding the bag(s) (literally)
Electrical tape and zip ties is what I would have done.
I ruined a rim, 14 spokes, a cage, a bag, a stove, a bunch of coffee, a fork, one glove, one helmet and one pair of glasses trying this.
I also got 18 stitches above my left eye.
Please don’t.
Nice. I’ve got a Krampus from before surly got braze-on crazy. So I use a similar setup there
My friend fractured his spine and spent 6 months recovering after an accident running a similar setup unless your very fond of eating through a straw it might be better to figure something else out
