Looking for advice from people who have experience with Canyon Speedmax bikes.
I’m 187 cm (6’2”) with an 88 cm inseam and preparing for Ironman 70.3 Zell am See this year. This would be my first dedicated triathlon bike and I plan to keep it for several years, potentially including a full Ironman in the future.
I’m deciding between two used Canyon Speedmax options at almost the same price (~€5,100).
Option 1: Canyon Speedmax CF 8 Di2 (2024)
Ultegra Di2 12-speed
4iiii Powermeter (new generation)
DT Swiss ARC 1600 (80 mm rear / 62 mm front)
Around 5,000 km
Purchased July 2024
Remaining Canyon warranty
Recently serviced (new chain, brake pads, hoses, derailleur hanger)
Includes Canyon hydration system
Option 2: Canyon Speedmax CF SLX 8 eTap (2022)
SRAM Force eTap AXS 12-speed
No powermeter
Around 10,000 km
Professionally fitted
Custom carbon wheelset built by a wheel builder (not a major brand)
Original owner was a competitive triathlete
Reportedly in very good condition
Both bikes are roughly the same price.
My question:
Would you choose the newer CF with powermeter and known components, or the older CF SLX with the higher-end frame but more mileage and no powermeter?
I’m especially interested in real-world differences between the CF and CF SLX platforms rather than marketing claims.
