I bought this at lunch today as I think I'd like something to ride around my neighborhood for a bit of exercise. Hoping that it's complete? It looks to have been sitting for a while so Im hoping nothing is too broken. I couldn't find any issues with the frame yet but maybe when I get the gunk off ot it there may be something. But otherwise, can I get this thing going? Would you have picked it up?

Thanks for any info on what I got myself into.

i mean for 17.99 even if you gotta do some work, that’s a steal

get it together and post it again when you get home

Obvious thing is the chainring(s) look worn to hell…

Other than that, you probably won’t know until it’s assembled.

For $17.99 I’d buy it, strip it of parts & hang the frame on the wall if nothing else!

  3. Find a local bike shop and talk to them. See what it would cost to have them reassemble it and tune it for you. See if they think it’s even worth the effort/ time/ money.

  4. 18$ is a steal even if it’s trash as a wall ornament, take it to a bike shop though just in case to check for frame damage/anything too thrashed to be used normally

Yes. I would have bought it. I’m a capable bike mechanic with a big box of tools, consumables, and parts. So fun finds are great. I get a huge boost from the feeling of bringing a trash bike back to life. As long as the frame is OK, you can wake a bike up with new cables, housings, brake pads, chain, and tires. Replace the contact points and put fancy cable caps on it in your favorite color and you’ll have a bike you’re proud to ride.

    My rundown looks like this:
Tires and tubes – 60 bucks, amazon
Pedals- Ozark trail aluminum flats. 16.99. Walmart
Cable and housing kit -19.99. Walmart
Brake pads – 9.99 on Amazon.
Seat and bartape -I’ll get from ali express or something in bulk. You can get a no name carbon saddle for like, 40 bucks. And bartape in bulk for about 7 bucks each.

Sometimes I’ll search marketplace for cool mavic wherlsets or some spd pedals. People are getting rid of great stuff all the time.

All this puts the bike in a super fresh and usable state for commuting or spirited riding. Is it optimized for the peleton? No. But it’s fun!

Expect to spend a few $100, probably a. New chain rings, pulleys, tires, pads, cables and labor. I think you got a pretty killer deal (assuming it fits you).

As one who owns a full set of bike tools, I would have jumped on that too, but if you don’t, or have any experience working on bikes, I’d get an estimate from a bike shop to restore it. This is one of those cases where paying to have it fixed up will probably be pretty expensive in labor, but doing it yourself would not be.

  8. That’s a carbon frame mate, that’s worth a lot by itself, providing it’s not cracked

18 bucks for a carbon frame aint bad even if its a bit outdated and you need to replace things. imo
