I am to buy my first road bike. I will use it as everyday commuting bike and workout rides on weekends. I live in a city with quite good bike infrastructure. I want it to be comfortable but reasonably fast. I’m choosing between the Endurance CF 5 and CF 7. Was looking at the Allroad but it was a bit heavier.
As I can see, the difference between CF 5 and CF 7 is the gears, wheels and the total weight. What should I choose? And, should I change tires for everyday commuting?
I’m all new to road bikes, so please enlighten me!

Canyon’s endurance bike is called the **Endurace**.

  2. Definitely use some frame protection tape, I personally would be worried about the lock scuffing up the frame and I’d rather have it do that on the tape.

That said, if you want the 7, go for it. If the wallet says otherwise, go for the 5.

The Grand Prix tires are perfectly fine.

If you are using it as a commuter bike, no big hills, and perhaps adding bags anyway, a bit more bike weight does not matter. Instead, think about how you are going to lock it; AllRoad alloy frame is much better if storing it on a communal bike rack, where other people/bikes can hit it.

  4. Have you considered a Grizl instead? More tire clearance, bigger tires, rack options, etc. To me it makes more sense for a commuter.

Vu ton usage, je partirais plutôt sur le allroad malgré le poids supplémentaire. Un cadre en carbone sera moins solide

An allroad would be optimal for commuting (I have one). It is still pretty light and rides very well.

  7. I just bought the allroad, its perfect for my daily commute (20km in total), and its also fine for the coffee rides – your legs matter more than the bike.

That said, i might also buy an endurace slx/aeroad at some point 🙂

Any commuter should be treated like something you are ok getting dinged up by strangers. Allroad.
