  1. 4.1.035 If a rider exits the course for any reason, he/she must return to the course between the same two course markers where he/she exited.

In case a rider fails to return to the course as provided for in this article, the commissairesโ€™ panel can disqualify the rider.
-> I'd really like to know why the commissaires decided not to disqualify Jenny Rissveds

  2. Bad UCI commisare- the incident lap 1 Rizveds should have been made to go around the marker she short cut, and even the commentator said Blunk had the line right after, and Rizveds lied at the end, she did not have the line, you can clearly see Blunk was on the line and Rizveds came right up beside Blunk making contact. If I was Blunk next race Rizveds would be getting cut off 'fairly'

  3. Thought the lap 1 move by Rissveds looked dodgy first time watching it, but looked back at it in slowmo and changed my mind. Blunk turned into her and left no room on the inside. Rissveds was already pretty much side-by-side with Blunk when she turned in. Where was she supposed to go at that point? She can't just vanish. That was on Blunk, she should have left some room.

  4. All the comments about Jenny causing the crash?? Did anyone watch it. Blunk moved over on the corner and rode straight into Jenny. clear as day. Where was Jenny supposed to go? Across the line and grass? No. If you change your line and crash into someone itโ€™s your fault.

  5. JR Didn't do anything wrong. She held a perfect line. Blunk should have yielded, not cut the corner off. Hence why UCI didn't penalise JR.. Go watch in slowmo.

  6. For sure those XC racers threw a mudguard with zip ties on a scale and decided against a hand full of grams. All for the cost of muddy eyes for 5 laps

  8. Completely disagree with post-race itw ! Savilia did not cross trajectory of Jenny, she was on the usual trajectory and the marks from previous riders clearly show that Savilia would go to the inside at this turn. Jenny was faster but behind and she kept the pace while she should have let Savilia pass in front. She could have easily avoid the contact with Savilia without loosing any place, but being second at this tims.
Totally wrong move + she has shortcut the track in the incident gaining an advantage (she was not first at the time… then she was).

While, in the men elite race, Mathis took the wrong line by accident, did not gain an advantage (he was first with few meters, he went out first with 0 meters, no contact with other riders) and he has got disqualified for that.

Nothing for Jenny: how fair is this? Not at all from my perspective.

  9. I must comment. I've been riding MTB since I started competing in XC as a young rider in 1996, and now in my midโ€‘forties Iโ€™m still on a hardtail. I think the incident with Blunk and Rissveds is just that, a race incident that sometimes happens. What rule did Rissveds violate if you think she deserved a DQ? There was an apparent gap, she went for it. She didn't deviate from her line, she didn't turn into Blunk. She was pretty much side by side with Blunk when SHE turned left INTO Rissveds? What should Rissveds have done?

Ayrton Senna famously said โ€œIf you no longer go for a gap which exists you are no longer a racing driverโ€ and I think the same logic applies here. Jenny could easily have been the rider that went down but she was skilled enough to stay on the bike this time.

And since Jenny wasn't DQd, I guess everyone that think she should have been don't know the rules.

Also, how many of you have actually been competing in XC (XCO)?
I was obviously never at this level but it's tough out there, you need to show some elbows and go for the gap!
