My younger daughter and I set out over a long spring weekend to tackle ~380km across Bavaria. The route was supposed to be reserved for two categories of people: the elderly on electric bikes… and me.
We started in the northwest corner of Bavaria, followed the sweeping curves of the Main River, and then turned our wheels south onto Germany’s legendary Romantic Road. Along the way, we encountered picture-book river towns, stumbled upon abandoned industrial landscapes, explored stunning Baroque architecture, and even debated whether Germany’s most famous tourist town is actually worth the hype.
If you are looking for a beautiful, safe, and family-friendly bike packing route through Germany that skips the worst of the mountain climbs, this is the one!
