Another excellent video, very relaxing and informative for us home mechanics. Thank you!
Thank you for another wonderful video. It is a pleasure to watch your work. Do you have a recommended home maintenance regimen that we can apply to help keep our bikes in top shape between services?
what kind of solution do you use for ultrasonic machine ?
I always oil my derailleur after cleaning, it's surprising how much it improves shifts & also makes sure there's no water residue left .
👍
Great work! How I wish my bike could get attention like this!! Greetings from South Africa!!
One fun commuter bike trick I learned from having the world's most destructive commute that entailed twice a day the bike spending 45 minutes being soaked (SOAKED) with salt water on a fast ferry is the miracle that is Boeing's product – boeshield t-9. It's like a dry lube and anti-corrosive that isn't very slippery, but just right as a chain lube, and before you do that, spray down a paper towel with t-9 and just give the bike, spokes, frame, and cables a wipe-down every 3 or 4 weeks. then spritz the chain as you pedal it and it disperses nicely across the cogs when you shift up and down, and doesn't attract almost ANY grime. Don't even really need to wash it every time, either, the wipe down is enough. It's fine on paint, stickers, raw metal, aluminum, titanium, everything. I was the only person on my commute that never had a single rusted bolt. It's freaking miracle stuff.
As fun as they are I still have no idea why the frame shifter persisted for so long on road bikes. I don't plan on replacing the ones on my 1980's chromoly schwinn traveler ever, they feel so fun to use, but god are they SO sketchy and unergonomic.
After almost 20 years of owning that bike I took it in for a real service and the mechanic asked if I wanted them set to be linear or clicky. I had no freaking idea all that time you could just turn a little flat ring and they went from smooth to having distinct clicks.
Is always a pleasure to see a master mechanic doing a service.🎉
I actually wonder how much this cost
I appreciate the content but sorry torquing the freewheel made me laugh.
Just wondering what fluid do you use in the ultrasonic cleaner? I just got one after watching your videos and was going to try water and fairy liquid? Good idea?
Dear Sir, I am a new subscriber; your work is amazing! I love the way you retain the original parts as best as possible. Anyone can just slap on new parts, but you take restoration to the deepest possible level and do truly outstanding work. As a home bicycle-do-it-yourselfer (and I used to work in bike shops in the 70s and 80s), I can appreciate your skill and attention to detail. I'm retired and live in The United States; my wife and I live in a small apartment in the Midwest. I have limited space and do most of my bike work in the basement. I do not have a repair stand, and I turn our bikes upside down to work on them, just as I had done when I was a school boy! I am amazed by your depth of knowledge — everything from 100-year-old antiques to modern, carbon road bikes. I find your presentations to be so relaxing and soothing, and as an added bonus, your channel is excellent for my health, as my blood pressure is always quite low while watching you work; last night it was below 110/65! You are are an inspiration to all, and I'd love to visit your shop.
Magic
While friction shifting is a little more fiddly, it needs almost no field adjustment, once the derailleur is adjusted, it just works.
Professional at work 😎👌🏻
That was very informative and enjoyable. I understand the owner of the bike has a limited budget but knowing what the roads are like in East Anglia (I'm from Suffolk but now live in Norwich), I think a thicker tyre/tyre with a puncture guard would be a good idea. I've learned a lot from your videos; please keep them coming!
I enjoy each of your videos. You learn so much from them regarding bike maintenance and service. Thanks for sharing your expertise. 🙏 Greetings from Germany.
Beautiful! Thx for sharing!!
Can you tell us what torque you use, realise it maybe different for different bikes but generally will be similar
Wish you guys would go over the specific components of these bikes. Great video!
Totul e făcut ca la carte ,atenție la detalii super ,o mică obiecție : nu umflați anvelopa sub greutatea roții ,nu se va mai așeza perfect.Exemplu roata spate.
