Hey friends, you guys absolutely motivated me to finally get my Olmo ready for a tour, thank you for your stories!!

This is my Olmo. It doesn't have mounting eyelets. What setup would you recommend? I'd only tour in the summer and camp outside. My biggest fear are pretty much any failures because other than changing tyres/tubes I don't know how to fix anything lol (and even changing tyres/tubes always takes hours).

Front tyre is, no kidding, 20-622, which I guess is way too narrow? 😀 Back tyre is 25-622, not sure how wide I could go, what do you think?

I'm in Germany btw

thank you again!

It’s a cheap bike in that you didn’t pay much for it. It’s not a cheap bike in the sense that it’s poorly made, those look like decent forks.

You should look at the amount of clearance you have on fork, but if you can get a 25 in frame, it’s likely to fit a 25 at front.

Handlebar bag and a saddlebag like a Carradice long flap Camper.

Check your perspective: That is not a cheap bike. That is a solid steel bike in mint condition. Unbreakable. Even so, any welder can fix it if anything goes wrong.
Also, more expensive gear or throwing money won’t make the journey any better. It should be always about the journey not the tool/gear. That’s how I see it.

Get a nice saddle though. At least get rid of the extra cushioning. Those gel toppers create more problems than it supposed to solve some.

  3. Since you are in Germany, you may send me a message and we can talk in German.

    As for the other things:

You can of course with this, but there will be issues. First things that comes to mind are the brakes and the flanks of that wheelset.

You won’t be able to fix wide tires with this bike, 25mm sound about right. I might be able to do 28mm, but that’s a stretch and dirt will accumulate between fork and tire… yeah.
